[:1]Hey i was wondering what spec is best for dpsing in raids as a mage. I think it is fire but i also have heard arcane and frost are good too. Also will this be changing in the next patch?
Raw DPS output is definitely Fire (on a good night with the right procs in the right fight, I can nearly hit 20k), then Arcane, then frost. I do know the next patch will buff frosts main nuke and Arcane, I believe will become more viable, but I really, really like the mobility of Fire. But, it all depends on play style in the end.

They are all viable for single target and currently, really only fire is viable for AoE. At 4.1, Arcane and frost will close the game some on AoE encounters but I'm guessing will still fall short.
Depending on the raid encounter you are playing, I'd say have two dps specs if you aren't thrilled with fire because if the raid has adds, the group will likely insist on fire. The first boss of Blackwing Descent is a good example, most raids need AoE dps for the parasites and not being fire will gimp your dps. There are a few exceptions, like if you have no reliable snares they may want you to blizzard to slow them down or some raids have a DK spec'ed into chillbains just kite all the parasites for the entire fight.
