I like to go with int, in/crit and int/hit gems, and reforge all my hit/mastery/haste to crit (I have a +hit cogwheel so I can reforge my hit).
Totally worth it. Casts may be a bit harder to get off, but if you play well enough you can get it off. Much rather have a longer cast time in a shatter combo and crit for something instead of it flopping for 6k because my shatter crit chance is bad.
