[:1]you know theres so much people saying mages will be QQing after patch hits in a few hours but what would really be funny is those people who were saying that comes back here and QQ more again after getting owned by mages once again after patch.

anyone explain to me why topmage(arena) haste

[:1]frost mage used to stack crit chance because of the triple crit chance to frozen target. so b4 33.3% crit chance( as i think) crit is the best state... and then mastery to increase the damage to frozen target. As a result , frost mage can do a huge burst damage. But now , as i checked the 2v2 arena , all top mage socket haste gems and reforge crit to haste. i dont know why this happened after one patch ..Is it because of the increase damage of frost bolt ..coz ice lance used to be used a lot .. Looking for help from gd pvp mages thx a lot

i asked one of my friends, he said because of time warp if not allowed to use in arena ..so ppl need more basic haste to sheep and do burst damage ... but i still dont get it ,coz without crit when deepfreeze ,frost mage gives no burst damage at all :D waiting for answer

This is PvE.

PvP: Mages are a control class, not a DPS-burst class in Arena. Your primary concern is not damage, but control. So, logically, your damage does not matter as much as your ability to get off Sheeps/Snares.

EDIT: That being said, Mages currently cannot do either in high-end Arena sooooo. Doesn't really matter anyway?
The answer is, not only because of frostbolt being buffed slightly, but also because the reduced chances for fof to come up, all the mages were gearing crit because we had plenty of ways to generate fof and opening up your main tree was too dangerous and with time warp, u were able to (but rarely) Now since the damage nerfs to frozen targets + lack of fof charges mages are gearing haste, so they can get something out if anything + more reliable sheeps on the healer. That's the best answer i could give you. All gearing haste does for you now, is simply up your out of frozen damage. but it is still s5 low. Hope you enjoy ;)
thx dude~ i got wt u mean.... mage do more cc in arena games and do not need to do a lot of damage .. but if its mage and rogue combo , u really need to burst a target within the time of cc the healer ,so theres a high chance to lose. in terms of mage and disc priest .. the most damage are done by mage . when u meet with 2dps u just need to keep alive and do damages step by step and cc the other dps . However, when u meet a team is the same 1dps and 1healer. u need the burst damage also in order to kill dps or healer , or w8 until their healer oom(another choice). That maybe complex , as a result , is that mean *stack haste or crit is up to ur combo and is not necessarily which is better*

Wands

[:1]I need some help/advice.

I am stuck on iLevel 344. I only have 3 pieces of gear I could possibly upgrade. VP boots which will take me another week or so of grinding heroics, Silk Sand Bracers that drop in Lost City, or a Wand.

Currently my wand is my weakest piece of gear iLevel 318. If I could get an upgrade that would easily put me over 346 iLevel and I could then start to raid and run Zandalari heroics. Problem is the only upgrades I can find for the wand are from Corla in heroic BRC or Cookie in Heroic Deadmines. I cannot get lucky and its a lot more waiting hoping one of these comes up in a random AND hoping that they drop it, AND hoping I win the roll. Any other options for finding a wand above iLevel 318?

Also, I don't PvP so that one isn't an option for me either.

The wand in Grim Batol that drops from the forge master is a good steping point, then you can shoot for cookie's or corla's.
only need about 400 conquest for the pvp wand
OR you could run the TWO dailies available to you for Ramkahen rep and try to focus on them for the 359 boots....

OR run TB dailies until you get enough commendations to buy the epic trinket....

OR run wildhammer dailies until you get the 359 neck....

OR run heroics as there are 4-5 Wrists/boots you can get that are slight upgrades to your existing ones.... (DM, Lost City, SFK, etc)

Or the wands like has been mentioned :D

Yeah, that last ilvl is a pain in the butt, I just went through it on my warrior as well....
Best in slot for pre-raiding, pre-troll heroics is Corla's Baton, but the pvp wand is also solid, Vicious Gladiator's Touch of Defeat.


And you'll definitely want to get the Ramkahen boots, Desert Walker Sandals, eventually. Run Heroics with the tabard and see if you get exalted first. Either way, ultimately, you'll want the Desert Walker Sandals. I still use them for raiding even after getting Melodious Slippers. Of course, the best boots are gear contingent, but you will want the Rep boots.

And the Tol Barad dallies for the Stump of Time is essential for early raid progression.
Thanks for the tips. Looks like I'm just going to have to get lucky with a drop. I was hoping to at least get my ilevel up to 346 this weekend so I could do the troll heroics, but unless I get a miracle drop and get lucky getting BRC or deadmines as a random, I'll be out of luck.

I'm also working on Ramkahen and TB rep for the other stuff. I'm about 9000/21000 revered with Ramkahen and just hit revered with Barradin's Wardens today.

i think a VP wand would be more in balance with the relics being VP.
This is absolutely nuts.

I just got a 346 wrist piece from heroic deadmines.

I now have 359 belt, 359 legs, and at least 346 in every slot except for 333 boots and a 318 wand.

And my ilevel is only 345 :(((((

The wand is killing me or should I say.. lack of a decent wand.

edit: I'm thinking of trading VP for Conquest points and just purchasing that damn Wand. Anyone think this is a bad idea? Its only 700 conquest points, and I'll have enough VP by the middle of next week to trade. That's only IF, I don't get a drop before then.
Get the Rep boots from Ramaken(sp.). I just got a wand form ZG to replace the 318 quest wand. RNG hated me when it came to wands.

OP, you do know you can choose to queue specifically only for the dungeons you want? You won't get VP for completing it but you can at least remove one level of RNG.
I just now looked at your gear. DO NOT BUY THE BOOTS. Save for a tier piece. The boots are a complete waste. Why I didn't think of writing that earlier, I do not know.
